FAQ

Why WordPress?
WordPress is, in our humble opinion, the most powerful, flexible and user-friendly content management system available. On top of that, Google loves it because it’s so easy to index the content, which can only help your search engine placement.

I thought WordPress was only for writing a blog?
That’s how it all started, but it’s been continually evolving and now WordPress has become one of the most popular content management platforms available.

How easy is it to learn WordPress?
If you know your way around basic text editors like Word, learning WordPress is a snap. You don’t need any advanced technical knowledge in order to maintain your site.

Wow, WordPress sounds great, but I already have a Web site. Is there any way to convert it to the WordPress platform?
Yes.

Can you help with that?
Yes.

These are very succinct answers you’re giving.
Yes… wait. Is that a question or a statement?

I like the design of my site. Can I keep the same design in WordPress?
Yes! Matt Weeden Design can convert virtually any design into a WordPress theme.

Don’t all WordPress sites look like a blog? I don’t want that.
Not necessarily at all. The hallmark of a blog design is two or three columns, and the same sidebar content on every single page. But your site doesn’t have to be designed that way! For example, this site is built on WordPress, and it isn’t bound by traditional blog design constraints; the blog pages are the only pages that look like a blog.

I only want to add a blog to my site but keep everything else the same. Can I do that?
Yes! Adding a blog to existing sites was the way we got into WordPress to start with. In most cases your server will already be set up to handle WordPress, but we can find out for sure as part of the discovery process, and we work with your hosting provider to address any issues.

Is WordPress appropriate for every site?
Not necessarily. Depending on the complexity of your site (and by that we mean what you want it to do, as opposed to how many pages there are) it may make sense to build at least some elements of the site from scratch with custom programming. If you’re not sure what your site needs, contact us and we’ll figure it out together.

I already have a blog on WordPress.com or some other platform. If we build a new site, can we import those old posts and comments?
Yes we can.

I’m having problems with my WordPress site. Can I hire you as a consultant?
Absolutely. We’ve helped many clients who just needed a little guidance and how-to training.

Do you offer any other services like search engine optimization, videography, etc.?
At Matt Weeden Design we focus primarily on Web design and development. We do have an extensive network of strategic partners that we work with and/or refer you to in order to maximize your online presence.

What kind of process can I expect when I hire you?
That’s a question with a long-winded answer, and we don’t have enough space for it on this page. We will be happy to discuss it over a coffee meeting or on the phone. In the near future we will have a more detailed look at our process, available once you express interest in working with us.

What are your rates?
Every project is unique, and has unique needs. Our contract rates vary depending on how much work a project requires. Contact us to start the conversation, and we will provide a detailed estimate that takes into consideration all your Web needs.
