Matt Weeden Design has just completed work on the new site for Public Safety Czar.

Specializing in communications equipment, PSC needed an overhaul for their site. The original was built in WordPress, but the bolt-on e-commerce solution was limiting at best.

We completely redesigned the site, as well as integrating it with the powerful Magento shopping platform. The result is a site with easy to manage content, full featured e-commerce and a solid foundation for SEO.

As part of the service, we also created a new logo for the company that reflects their focus on wireless communication.

Matt Weeden Design is pleased to announce the launch of the revised site for Parent Your Parents.

Parent Your Parents is a national organization offering insight, advice and resource lists for those who find themselves caring for aging loved ones.

Previously built on a different platform and using WordPress for the blog only, the site is now run entirely through WordPress. This gives the site owners one single point of entry to manage all the various content.

The site features the standard static page content, but also several special page types used to display information about providers and service organizations, and online articles. Leveraging the power of custom post types within WordPress, we built a system that makes it easy for the site owners to plug in the relevant information for each vendor and have it automatically populate. The end user, meanwhile, can search across categories and location (state and/or zip code) to find providers close to them in the area they need help with.

This site is a wonderful example of the power and flexibility of WordPress.

Working in conjunction with Trulium, Inc., Matt Weeden Design has completed a new WordPress site for Ashley Schenkein Jewelry Design.

The site both showcases Ms. Schenkein’s work, and allows customers to purchase items online. The content and shopping are all handled through WordPress.

Matt Weeden Design created the theme from supplied art, and modified the e-commerce plugin Shopp to fit the look and feel.

This new site replaces an out-of-the-box e-commerce solution that ASJD had used previously. By switching to WordPress, ASJD gained much more control over the content and display of the site, as well as saving on commissions taken by the previous e-commerce provider.

Corporate assets must produce. Or, they are called liabilities. And, we look to reduce liabilities. Assets, we grow.

So, why does the CFO, Controller, Bookeeper and IT guy show up in the website meeting?

Could it be that the CFO guy is interested in saving money and reducing costs (eliminate liabilities)?

Or could it be that the IT guy is the only one who speaks computer code (eliminate translator risk)?

Both of these functions are trying to avoid something rather than trying to grow something – like sales.

I would suggest that your website is a performing asset. And, it must drive revenue. Marketing is the group that owns this function. Sales is also involved. These are the guys you want driving your web initiatives. Let the coders do the behind the scenes stuff. Let the CFO make sure that there is money in the till to support this effort appropriately.

Your goal is not to create a website for as little as you can spend.

Your goal is to build brand and drive sales. Yes, we are budget conscious. But, I often see pennies spent when it should be dollars. The result is a non-performing asset. And, we ditch those because they are liabilities.

Your website needs to grow things, namely your business.

Consider carefully who you have leading your web initiatives. Do they line up with your business objectives?

It could mean the difference between growing and going.

The Book By Owner site needed an update, to give it a fresher, modern feel. Once again we teamed up with eightbysix, who created the design from which we built the site. We also transitioned the site to the WordPress platform, for the client’s ease of use and to take advantage of all the benefits the WordPress platform provides.
